Kenosha DownTown and Lake Front

Kenosha’s downtown is up and coming, under a lot of renovation and rejuvenation!  It is a great place to spend your day, and it is located on our beautiful Lake Michigan lake front.  A quarter will buy you a trolley ride to tour the downtown area, it will even drop you at the Metra Station, or at the lakefront.

Our Downtown area is a great place to spend a day with family and friends. You can take a stroll with your sweetie, have a picnic with the family, train for that gruling upcoming marathon (yikes!), watch the boats sail by, feed the ducks, fish with Dad, or watch the kids play in our awesome tot park with fountains and lots of water to splash in! Did I forget to mention the beach?

You will find plenty of fine dining options here, from Mangia’s, Pazzo’s, The Wine Knot, Villa D’Carlo’s, to Cool coffee shops like Mo’s or The

Bob Chinn’s Crabhouse is under construction and eagerly anticipated!

On Saturdays from April through October the lakefront is home of our Harbor Market Place where locals vendors sell everything from fresh vegetables to fine jewelry and lots of good treats!

Luxury condo developments are under way and many more planned, soaring to nine stories over looking Lake Michigan.  Contact us today if you are looking for a luxury condominium on Chicago’s northern most shores!

You will also find culture plentiful, you can visit the Kenosha Museum, Civil War Museum, or our Dinosaur Museum. Lots of activities for the family take place here all year long. You can also visit our Art Galleries downtown.

The Lakefront is also home to our Annual 4th of July festivities including our spectacular fireworks display. Lots of food, family, friends, and bright lights! Don’t forget the Parade and Firecracker run!

You can also checkout our Tallships Festival in the summer, where you can tour replicas of the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria along with lots of food and games!

Pleasant Prairie

The Village of Pleasant Prairie is Kenosha’s southern most county, just north of the Illinois border.  Kenosha, and especially Pleasant Prairie, have become an extension of Chicago’s North Shore. Many of our residents have relocated here from the Chicago area and commute to work.  Population is roughly 11,000 and growing strong!

You can still get more for your money in real estate here versus Illinois. If you are interested in crossing the border, and giving up the hub bub of the Windy City, give us a call today!

Pleasant Prairie is highly desireable for its country feel and great taxes!  There is a lot of new construction under way and much more planned. The Village built a man-made lake, Lake Andrea which is a great place to play. There is a nice beach, parks, and lots of athletic fields to play outside. The LakeView Recplex is an indoor athletic club situated right on Lake Andrea and sponsors many activities throughout the year from Easter Egghunts to mega tri-athalons.  The RecPlex also has an awesome indoor aquatic center where the kids will have fun playing in the water all year long- it even has water slides!

There is every team sport available to play here also. Don’t forget the new IcePlex addition, great for sport or a night out with the family on the ice.

Carol Beach is a part of Pleasant Prairie near Lake Michigan, east of Sheridan Road and south of Hwy 50. Carol Beach is very diverse with a mix of older homes, new construction, and mansions on the Lakefront. The architecture is diverse as well. Some homes are on wells, some are on slabs due to the water levels near the lake. There are lots of wetlands and protected prairies throughout the Carol Beach areas that make great scenery. Al Capone is said to have lived in one of the mansions tucked away along the lakefront in Carol Beach.

Prime Outlets shopping mall is located just off of the interstate on Hwy 165 and I-94. Various storefronts and upscale outlets attract shoppers from near and far.

City of Kenosha

The City of Kenosha has many of great areas and things to do. Petrifying Springs park  is a great escape to nature with hiking trails and picnic pavilions placed along the Pike Creek River.  This is a favorite spot for photographers, family reunions, church picnics and golfers! Oh yeah- there’s a golf course too! This park is located off of Hwy 31 near the Parkside University campus.

I might as well mention our higher education now, Kenosha has 2 major universities and a technical college. UW Parkside University, Carthage College, and Gateway Technical College.

How about some Golf??? We have some great courses in Kenosha. The Kenosha Country Club and Golf Course, Bristol Oaks, The Municipal Course (Muni), and Petrifying Springs to name a few.

Have I mentioned the Italian food here? You will find the absolute BEST Italian food outside of Italy right here in Kenosha! No kidding! We have Ruffolo’s , Villa D’Carlo’s, Tenuta’s, and  Mangia’s to name my favorites! We have a host of other great Restaurants as well, something for everyone!

We have a 14 theatre Cineplex movie theatre Tinseltown and an old fashioned Drive-In theatre too! We have 2 Large Miniature Golf Courses and Family Fun Centers. I already mentioned the IcePlex ice arena but that is a fun thing to do too!

You can travel about 15 Minutes South to Gurnee, IL, where you can spend the day (or two) at Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor Water Park- The ultimate in amuzement parks and fun.  KeyLime Cove, a resort and indoor water park will be opening near Six Flags in February 2008!

If you run out of things to do here, You can either hop in the car or catch the Metra Train to Chicago or Milwaukee, about a 45 minute drive either way.
